Aesthetic & Restorative Treatments

Saving teeth with invisible solutions

Aesthetic fillings, veneers, inlays and root canal treatment.

The goal of restorative dentistry is to repair damaged or decayed teeth so that their function and appearance perfectly match natural teeth. At Foxxi Dental Clinic we use the most advanced composite materials and digital technologies. Whether it is a tiny filling or a complex root canal treatment — a professional oral hygiene treatment is recommended beforehand — our goal is always to save your own tooth and keep you pain-free.

When should you see us?

  • Sharp pain triggered by cold, heat or sweets.
  • Throbbing, spontaneous toothache (especially at night).
  • A chipped tooth or a lost old filling.
  • Dark discolouration in the grooves of the tooth.
  • Old fillings turning brown and aesthetically distracting.
  • Unfavourable tooth shape, chipped edges, gaps between the front teeth.
  • Stubborn tooth discolouration that teeth whitening can no longer fix.

Aesthetic tooth-coloured filling

After removing the decayed area, we rebuild the tooth using a composite layering technique with several shades, so the filling remains completely invisible.

Aesthetic veneers (direct and indirect)

A perfect and minimally invasive solution for correcting chipped, gappy or discoloured front teeth. Where more tooth structure is missing, crowns or bridges may be the better solution.

  • Direct veneer: The dentist builds up the outer surface of the tooth in a single visit, right in the surgery, from premium aesthetic composite material. Its advantage is that it is ready immediately.
  • Indirect (porcelain) veneer: Crafted by the dental laboratory from a digital impression. These wafer-thin ceramic shells are bonded to the outer surface of the teeth. They require two appointments, but in return they are extremely durable, never discolour and deliver outstanding aesthetics.

  • Inlay/Onlay restorations

Where a larger amount of tooth structure has been lost, we bond a precise, highly resistant restoration made by the dental technician using CAD/CAM technology — more beautiful and more durable than a conventional filling.

    Root canal treatment

We use high magnification and rotary instruments to clean the root canals perfectly, allowing us to save teeth that in the past would have been extracted.

Frequently Asked Questions — Restorative Dentistry

How long does an aesthetic filling last?

With proper oral hygiene, modern composite fillings last 7-10 years, and often even longer.

Should I have my old amalgam (grey) fillings replaced?

If the filling is intact and there is no decay around it, replacement is not mandatory. However, if it bothers you aesthetically or we see a crack next to it, we recommend replacing it with a modern, white filling.

What is the difference between a filling and an inlay/onlay?

A filling is made immediately in the dental chair. An inlay is made by a dental technician based on a scan and is bonded in place in its solid form. Inlays are more durable and withstand chewing forces better when a large part of the tooth is missing.

Can a white filling turn brown?

The edges of very old fillings can discolour. Modern materials are colour-stable, but heavy coffee or tea consumption and smoking can affect them over time. Polishing can often restore them to like-new condition.

Which should I choose: direct or indirect (ceramic) veneers?

If you want to correct a minor shape issue (e.g. a chipped corner or a small gap) quickly and cost-effectively, a direct veneer is a great choice. If, however, you want a long-lasting, flawless smile makeover that stays just as radiant 10-15 years from now and never discolours, we recommend ceramic (indirect) veneers.

Do my teeth need to be ground down for veneers?

Grinding is one of patients' biggest fears, but rest assured: with direct veneers, in most cases no tooth structure needs to be removed at all. Even with ceramic veneers, only the very top layer of the enamel (about 0.3-0.5 mm, which is wafer-thin) needs gentle preparation, so the tooth stays as vital and healthy as possible.

    Is root canal treatment painful?

Contrary to popular belief, modern root canal treatment under local anaesthesia is completely painless. The pain is caused not by the treatment but by the inflammation — which is exactly what we eliminate.

Can I have a filling or root canal treatment during pregnancy?

Yes — in fact, it is recommended! Inflammation poses a greater risk to the baby than the treatment itself. The second trimester is the most ideal, but we provide emergency care at any time.

Why is my tooth sensitive after a filling?

Sensitivity to cold and heat may occur for a few days — this is the tooth's natural reaction to the procedure. If the pain intensifies or it hurts when you bite down, come back for a check-up.

How soon can I eat after a filling?

Since we use light-cured material, the filling is hard immediately. As soon as the anaesthetic wears off (so you don't bite your tongue or cheek), you can eat with confidence.

My root canal treated tooth has discoloured. What can I do?

Root canal treated teeth can turn grey or brown over time. With internal whitening — or, where more tooth structure is missing, with an indirect ceramic veneer or a crown — the original colour and shape can be perfectly restored.

Why does a root canal treated tooth need a crown?

Root canal treated teeth dry out and become brittle, as they no longer have a blood supply. A crown or an extended inlay (onlay) protects the weakened tooth from fracturing, preserving it for the long term.
