The old saying that you have to wait for all the baby teeth to fall out is completely outdated and causes a lot of problems later on! The ideal time for the first screening is around the age of 7, while in most cases, the complete treatment has to be accomplished between the ages of 10 to 14!
The key to achieving the perfect result is the accurate timing of the orthodontic treatment. Thus, in most cases, we can avoid tooth extraction and finish the treatment faster and with a better result. During childhood, owing to the diversity of tasks at hand we use a lot of different appliances, removable and fixed solutions can both come up and often you can choose among many similarly efficient treatment solutions.
Orthodontic treatment for children logically consists of two stages. If there is an abnormality in size or position of the jawbones, it is corrected with a removable or glued-in target device.
This takes about a year and a half.
In case the jaw bones are sorted, we can begin aligning each tooth. Most often we use an orthodontic appliance with fixed attachments, also called a Multiband or an aligner appliance, for example, Invisalign. This process can take up to one to two years.
